Are You Waiting To Be Motivated?
Waiting for motivation is not a sound business strategy. The idea for this blog post became clear to me a couple of weeks ago, when I was working with one of my inner circle mentoring clients. In our call, we were discussing the process of finding motivation to do the sales and marketing you need to do.
One of the key factors in my coaching style is that I will push back on my clients, and I will push back hard. This isn’t because I want to offend my clients. It’s because I truly and deeply want them to succeed. I see so many entrepreneurs struggling day after day, running here and there and everywhere, just because they are trying to figure everything out on their own.
They don’t have a system for moving their sales and marketing forward. They wait to be motivated by external circumstances (usually deadlines or running out of money) before they take action to predictably grow their business. The other mistake they make is to focus on selling low end products and services, which take a lot of time and don’t generate enough cash flow.
The best way to build momentum is to take action every day. I often use the phrase “Be a bull in a china shop” which means you go directly for your goal, no stopping, no excuses.
I wake up every day and focus on exactly what I need to do to move my business forward. I understand that sales and marketing are the main driving forces for creating cashflow. I do whatever it takes- getting up early, working late- to move my business forward.
If you’re stuck in neutral (or worse, going backwards)- it’s time you stopped waiting to be motivated.
And if you need a kick in the pants, let me know.
