Probably the most ironic thing that has happened to me was me—Glenn Dietzel—becoming a Vice Principal!

Hold that thought and follow me for a moment. Okay?

Yes, I could have taught your kids.

Yes, you and I could have talked in my office about your child.

And yes, you probably would have enjoyed my winning smile!

But, inwardly I probably would have not told you what I honestly thought. (Well, I would have if my Principal or Superintendent were not listening!)

You see, I break laws all the time.

In fact when Fiona was getting to know me when we were dating, she couldn’t believe I was a Vice Principal!

Because what does a Vice Principal stand for? (Think of a Vice Principal in your past and you will be able to answer this very easily!)

Rules.

Laws.

Status Quo.

Be Nice.

Get Along.

(If you failed to comply…you would have been sent to my office!)

Yet what did my job do to me?

And what does what you are doing today do to you—if you are not playing at your highest level tied to your passion?

It snuffs the life out of you.

It cancels the dream.

It keeps you focused on someone else’s agenda.

And this leads to losing your opportunity to really go for it.

In the past, most people were lured into this paradigm for the trade-off of having a job and experiencing ‘security’.

However in today’s economy this mindset is by far the greatest risk to your security.

Isn’t it time that you take a risk and begin to break a rule or two?
