Choose a Business Coach Over an Information Product
If you’ve been following my blog for a while now, you know that I often say, “Be close to the source of momentum.” Sometimes, people aren’t sure what this means. Let me explain. When I talk about being close to the source of momentum, what I am talking about is investing in yourself, and investing in your business, by hiring a business mentorcoach; one who is building the size and scope of business you want.
It is better- always- to learn directly from the source, rather than interpreting what you think you know from an informational product like a book, DVD or CD. Yes, informational products have their place, but they should not be your main source of learning. Instead, what I propose is that you work directly with a business coach to make progress rapidly and consistently, and use that coach’s informational products to support your accelerated implementation. So, essentially, what I’m saying is that you hire the coach first, and then utilize his informational products.
Most people do this backwards. They read and try to learn everything from books, CD’s or DVD’s, but don’t actually take the most crucial step, which is to make the investment in themselves, and their businesses, and work directly with a business coach. They leave their success up to chance, in some ways, because their success relies on their capacity to have understood the information, applied the information exactly as needed, and to keep themselves motivated and moving forward when it doesn’t seem like results are happening fast enough.
Instead, it is better to use your resources to learn directly from the source, and then fill in any gaps or places where you need more information by turning to your mentor’s books, CD’s or DVDs.
Create More Value, Make More Money
It’s also important to commit to just one mentor and follow him closely. Examine what he does. See how you can apply it to your own business. Model him. Learn to think like him. Adopt the best qualities he has, and implement his suggestions rapidly and efficiently in your business. Don’t hesitate to act when someone gives you a step by step process to follow. Adopt it immediately, and then, try to improve on it if you can. Momentum builds momentum. So if you’ve been stuck for a while, feeling like you keep running yourself through the same old rut, I’ll ask you this: Are you choosing an information product instead of a coach?
If so, your first step is to flip that process around, and make the investment in yourself and your business by hiring a skilled and successful business coach. You’ll be amazed at how quickly you see results when you truly commit to be close to the source of momentum.
