Develop a High Performance Routine
I recently shared with my mentoring clients that I see business as a competitive sport. This means I prepare, each day, to run my business just as I would if I were playing a competitive sport.
If you know anything about peak performance coaching or high performance coaching, you know that highly trained athletes go through a series of mental and physical drills and exercises to help prepare them to be at their absolute best.
The highest achieving athletes have unwavering routines to help them “get into the game” and attain superior results.
Now, compare this to the typical entrepreneur, who wakes up late, frazzled, and already behind. Guzzles a cup of coffee and grabs a danish as he or she runs to the office, fires up the computer, and starts dealing with all the emergencies that fill their inbox. The day passes quickly, putting out one fire or another- or, even worse, the day passes in overthinking and perfectionism, so nothing important actually makes it out the door.
Can you see why most entrepreneurs aren’t as successful as they could be?
It’s because they don’t prepare themselves, each day, to attain peak performance.
I, for instance, start each day by working out in the gym for a couple of hours. This helps me hone my physical body and focus. During this time, I also remind myself of my goals and passion and purpose. I move myself into new conversations with myself, and into new ways of seeing my current business frameworks.
I sometimes think about my clients, and how I can help them move further, faster and more efficiently.
I prepare each day, both physically, and mentally, to take new ground in my business. I use a regular routine of focused attention to help me identify what’s most important and worth the most attention.
When I sit down to start my day, I have already prepared myself to be effective, efficient, and to create results.
Can you see the benefit of starting your day this way?
I invite you to develop a personally useful and fulfilling high performance routine to maximize your business results. Focus on high performance, and that is what you’ll create.
