To rapidly build business momentum, it’s vital that you function at your highest levels all the time. Your business can only be as healthy and vital as you, yourself, are.

High level business performance means that you have the energy, creativity, and vitality to do everything you must do to grow your business. You must market your business, sell your services, provide services, make new contacts, build professional alliances, grow your expertise, and do all of this in the context of having good health, stable relationships, and security about the future.

I’m often asked how I have been able to accomplish so much in a reasonably short amount of time. I wanted to share some of my strategies with you.

1) Focus

You must understand with absolute clarity how and where you need to focus in order to generate the most significant business results. Too many people lose too much time trying to find focus. They chase every seemingly good idea, which ends up leaving them both exhausted and broke.

The most important elements of business are marketing and sales. If you don’t know where else to focus, start here. And, I should mention, that you need to produce results in these areas. It doesn’t count as marketing just because you think about your business card for a few hours. It only counts as marketing when the business card is completed, and you hand it out for a few hours.

2) Go with your Strengths

We all have strengths; these are capacities or traits that we’re naturally good at. As an entrepreneur, you must focus on your strengths, and go forward with those. You should plan to, as soon as possible, hire for the things you’re not that good at. That’s why, for instance, I have a technical team in my business. I am not that interested in learning how and why my blog works- I just want to use it. Similarly, you will have areas in your business that are better outsourced or handled by employees. Emphasize your strengths and hire out for the rest.

3) Develop discipline

Discipline can sometimes be a negative word, but we each need to be disciplined about our business growth and development. This means we do the things we don’t want to do, that we do the things that are hard, and we do the things that challenge us- and especially do them if they make us uncomfortable. We need to make business success a given, not optional. The best way to do that is to be disciplined.

4) Keep learning

It’s vital that you keep learning about your niche or industry. Meet new people. Create new conversations. Get the inside scoop. Be able to spot trends and turning points, and predict these for your clients. Keep your expertise fresh and timely, because people will always pay more to work with an expert.

5) Monitor your progress

You must know, each week, if you are on track with your goals, or not. You need to have some kind of feedback cycle or process so you can catch yourself when you’re too far off course, or congratulate yourself when everything is going as planned. Weekly review is vital so small problems don’t get out of hand.

If you want to increase your personal and business performance, you can start by implementing these five strategies. You’ll see significant improvements when you do so.
