One question I ask my new (and potential) clients is about their level of message to market match. While some of them don’t know the answer to this question, a greater number have some answer like this, “Pretty good.” or “People seem to like it when I talk about my business.”

I then ask them why they are seeking business coaching. And, invariably, the answer is that they want to accelerate the growth of their business. Why? Because they aren’t making enough sales.

And, right then, I know that their message to market match isn’t good enough.

How do I know this? Because the only measure of a good message to market match is the number of sales you make. When you have compellingly presented your USP, and you’ve tied your passion and expertise to the wants of a hungry target market, selling becomes easy.

When there is a perfect message to market match, your clients, literally, line up to buy.

As you know, I am a huge fan of rapid implementation. I would rather you test your ideas in the marketplace, and use their feedback to guide your decision, as opposed to sitting by yourself in your office or spare bedroom, constantly refining your marketing without any feedback.

The market will tell you if your message resonates. And if it does, you refine it. If it doesn’t, you step back and re-evaluate.

Sometimes, your message could be stronger, or clearer, or more directed. Sometimes, your market could be better defined.

When both are in alignment, your business will grow.
