Self Reflect for Your Client’s Benefit
You’ve heard me say that self reflection is the source of your intellectual property. Intellectual property is sourced from your personal pain.
In order to dig deeply into your personal pain, you must be comfortable self reflecting.
Self reflection means that you take time to think through your experiences, and figure out how you solved or resolved your problems. You need to understand your own steps and process, what you did, and how you did it, in order to create a process or method that your clients can follow too.
Now, most of us want to avoid spending any more time with our experiences of pain than we absolutely have to. If it makes it easier for you, I want you to realize that the more self reflection you do, the greater the benefits you can bring to your clients.
Create More Value, Make More Money
Consider that you are self reflecting not only to understand yourself better, but to help others through the exact same circumstances.
There is something unique that happens to us when we start to shift from focusing on our pain to thinking about how our pain might serve to help others. We feel connected in a different way, maybe we feel like our pain is more meaningful or useful. Something about converting our pain into helping others is very powerful.
Not only does it give us a new perspective on our own life, but it helps define and shape our legacy: what it is we want to be known for.
It also adds authenticity to our message. We can say, clearly, and confidently, that we have traveled the road before our clients, and can smooth the way for them.
This authenticity is vital in terms of generating trust and credibility.
When we have deeply understood our own pain, we can find the strongest words and best descriptions to use in our marketing. These powerful words will speak directly to those we want to assist.
Even though self reflecting on painful circumstances is difficult, consider it a necessary step to creating something good out of something that felt bad.
