To build a strong value proposition (an integration of value creation, value delivery and high profit margins) this begins with an understanding of how to structure an opportunity in the market place.
Business Coaching Training Rules For Building a Profitable Business Idea
1. The market place must have deep pockets to spend money.
There are certain niche markets that are incredible for creating and selling big ticket, high priced programs and services and I have spent years researching these areas that my clients leverage today.
2. The market place must have a huge desire to solve a specific, burning problem that causes them to take action.
Make sure you solve a specific problem that has a strong, tangible, payoff to get your target market out of a situation that plagues them and ‘eats’ at their emotional energy. Does the problem that you are solving present itself as a screaming child having a hissy fit in a busy store? In other words, you must know the difference between solving an urgent problem and an important problem. Failure to discern the difference will bring about certain business failure.
BUSINESS COACHING TRAINING NOTE: One of the questions I teach my clients is to find out what specific situation was happening in their prospective clients’ lives at the moment they realized they had a problem. The genius of this is that you can begin to understand very clearly an important aspect of market research: what drove your prospective market to realize they had a problem in the first place!
3. The solution you have ties into a strong want and hungry desire.
Remember this (Strong business coaching training reminder): You can’t quantify a want—by definition a strong want never becomes satiated or fulfilled. What people want they continue to want in increases number of forms. For example, I love dark chocolate. Having some dark chocolate as a treat might fulfill my chocolate tooth for an evening, but I can guarantee within days…sometime hours!…the desire comes back and I want more!
4. There exists a strong gap in the market place where you build your competitive advantage based on the weakness of your competitors. When addressing a gap I always teach my clients to ‘reframe’ what they think they do to what the negative perception that their prospective clients have of their competition.
5. You must be able to ask yourself better questions than what your competitors are asking.
