What is Knowledge?
Knowledge is applied information plus experience.
Although most of us think we want more information, what we actually want is someone to help us understand how information applies to us. This is who you need to become to your target market. You must be the person who understands their experience, applies wisdom and knowledge, and can help them understand the best course of action to take.
The fastest way to do this is through your own process of self reflection. What do you do better than anyone else? How would your ideal clients benefit from knowing this system, one that you created from your own information and experience?
What kind of results could you help your clients create, if they just knew of your expertise?
This is what you must convey. Too many people get stuck in trying to report or regurgitate information- they think their target market wants knowledge, without experience.
This is absolutely critical to your market dominance. You must be the trusted advisor, the preferred resource, and the solid source of recommendations for your target market.
Information does not lead to business success. If that were all it took, librarians would be the richest people in the world. You don’t “know” something until you apply it and gain experience from it. The same is true for your target market.
Position yourself as the holder of specialized knowledge which will help them. This is the strongest positioning you can take in the Recommendation Age.
