What To Do When Your Business Scares You
You’ve heard me mention that new conversations with yourself and within your business are signs you and your business are both growing and changing.
There have been so many exciting developments in my company over the past month or so, and these are pushing me, big time, in the direction of new thinking and new conversations.
While this is all very high energy, and building up a lot of momentum, there are times where all the fast movement makes me a little worried.
And, yes, even a little scared.
Now I know it’s not usual to admit when we’re scared, but it happens to all of us. When we are making things happen in the world (by sharing our passion, offering systems based on our intellectual property), there will be a lot of new ideas, new people, and new opportunties coming in.
We all have a certain threshold of comfort for these. Eventually, we will all hit a point of overwhelm where we just say STOP.
This, of course, isn’t the best thing you can do. If you’ve just invested all this time and energy into creating new opportunities in your business, you want to be sure you’re ready to use them when they show up.
That’s the subject of this blog post.
What to do when your business scares you?
Self reflect, create some new conversations, and keep moving forward anyway.
Self-reflection is the greatest tool you can apply to situations that make you uncomfortable or worried, or make you feel out of your depth. By understanding what you’re thinking, and feeling, and where in your history it comes from (and we all have history that holds us back), you can use self reflection as a tool to create new thoughts, new feelings, and to overcome your history.
When you have created some new thoughts or new perspectives, you automatically approach conversations differently- so you create more new thoughts and more new experiences.
The most important thing is to not let fear stop you. Do all that you can to overcome the fear, but realize, at the end of the day, you must move forward even if you’re still afraid.
At this point, I’d even go so far as to say that if your business isn’t scaring you even sometimes, you’re not doing enough to build your business.
